About Me

My name is Ann Ueno and I am first and foremost, a Christian and follower of Jesus.  Without my faith, life would look much different and who I am would be far different also.  If you care to know more, write me a note.  Secondly, I am a wife (and a proud one!).  Having been married before and going through a sticky mess of a divorce (you will learn more via my blogs, I am sure!), I have to say the second time is a charm and all glory to the grace of God for bringing me the most amazing man in the world.  He’s not perfect, but he’s perfect for me.  Next, I am a lover of travel and so my day job suits me well…Director of Marketing for Starwood Hotels & Resorts (think W Hotels, Westin, Sheraton…).  This is my second family, my home away from home since March of 2004.  I feel abundently blessed to work with such unique and inspiring people and for an innovative company (that just so happens to align quite nicely with my jet-setting desires).  I’m writing a blog for reasons I still can’t 100% articulate, other than I love to be creative, I do love writing (though a professional writer I am not), I love innovative marketing technologies and I have things to share.  I suppose that’s good enough.  Here is my version of the Facebook 25 Things You Didn’t Know About Me:

  1. My husband, Rick,  is one of the kindest, funniest, smartest and interesting people I know
  2. I have the best mom and dad ever and the older I get, the more grateful I am (and the more guilty I feel for the bad, bad teenage years)
  3. I was born and raised in Ottawa, IL (midwest farm town USA), lived in NYC and Chicago
  4. I get carded everywhere I go, despite being more than a decade past the legal drinking age
  5. I love trying new things…everything, really.  Food, travel, wine, innovative technologies, photography, home design, books, people, music, art, religion, everything.  Push me outside of my comfort zone and I am happy.  Hmmm, maybe I actually don’t have a comfort zone, then, ha?!
  6. My claimed nationality is Italian despite actually being a mutt
  7. Bono is one of the most incredible and impactful artists of this century.  His creativity, love for God and passion for Africa is not to go unnoticed.
  8. My degree is in Advertising with a minor in Economics from the University of Illinois (ILL-INI!)
  9. I’m a life-timer at Weight Watchers.  WW BABY!
  10. My sister is one of the most kind-hearted and thoughtful people I know
  11. It’s on my bucket list to live abroad and I PRAY it happens!
  12. My half-brother is one of the most creative people I know (who has a book, Bennington Photography)

  16. I care deeply for people and I have a curiosity for them
  17. I went on a mission trip to Costa Rica and got my butt kicked playing soccer with 10-12 year-olds
  18. While I still feel weird saying this, I am a runner
  19. Istanbul is one of the most profound cities I have been to.  Anytime you can be sitting under the moon, eating dinner in Europe and caross the body of water  (namely, the Bosphorus, also known as the Istanbul Strait) is Asia is pretty frickin’ cool, to say the least.
  20. I appreciate life and the beauty (and pain) it brings every single day

  22. I love writing notes
  23. My favorite hotel is the W Hotel in Barcelona
