I like to think of myself as someone who cannot answer the question “What is your favorite type of music?” because I don’t have a favorite type. Generally speaking, I am just not a “favorites” person (I love everything, as my closest friends and husband can attest to). Wow, how’s that for a profound statement? I know, I know, I should have been a philosopher or something. For me, as a near 32-year old married urbanite (another made up word for my blog series), I truly love almost all genres of music and I do try to push myself to appreciate even the most frowned upon tunes out there, like that really stupid Rebecca Black Friday song (it’s Fri-day, Fri-day…).
And while I don’t have a New Years Resolution to lose weight (though I’m sure shaving off a few LB’s wouldn’t hurt me), I recently resolved to create a 2012 workout playlist that I hope doesn’t go stale before February so my workout mojo remains steady. You see, for me, music is critical to my workouts. If I don’t have killer music, chances are, I’m not working out. And contrary to the glamorous image featured here circa 1984 where hot pink belted leotards, pointless leg warmers and huge hair were enough of a distraction that headphones with personal and customized playlists weren’t needed, that’s not the case circa 2012. At least not for me. Enjoy the playlist and if it doesn’t work, give Jane Fonda or Richard Simmons a call and I am sure they could help.
